Rob was the lead vocalist for
the Heavy Metal "Super group" - Judas Priest
until 1991 when he left the
band to pursue other musical interests. He wanted to
perform a heavier style of music,
with a more speed or thrash sound to it. He used those
ideas to form the band "Fight"
with Scott Travis (who left Priest with Rob). Fight released
3 CD's and the band called it
quits. It seems Rob wanted to experiment again with
another style of music - Industrial.
Rob constructed the band Two in which he worked
with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch
Nails) to produce the Voyeurs disc. Rob was unsatisfied with
the popularity of the band on
tour and decided to end the band. Rob then realized that
his true love was for Heavy
Metal and decided to get back into that genre of music. He
formed the band Halford with
a new group of musicians and recorded the CD "Resurrection".
The disc was released in 2000
and there were a few demo tracks floating around the internet
that people were raving over.
Everyone knew that Rob "The Metal God" was back with a vengeance. Halford
has had an extremely successful tour supporting the Resurrection CD. He
started out the tour as part of the MegaMetal Triple Bill with Queensryche,
& Iron Maiden and selling out arena's all over. After being part of
that bill and the response from the audiences,
Halford ventured out on their
own with various acts opening for them on the club circuit.
He did many dates in the states
and then carried the Resurrection show over to Europe to finish out the
rest of the tour. I had the opportunity to see & meet
Halford on the club tour and I can honestly say that Rob sounds better
than ever !!! All the Halford fans worldwide hope and pray that Rob keeps
the band together for the remainder of his career.
